Traci M. Cook focuses her practice on complex criminal and civil litigation at both the state and federal levels. She is a former federal prosecutor and seasoned trial attorney with nearly three decades of experience in the courtroom.
During her tenure with the U.S. Department of Justice, Traci served as a Supervisory Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of West Virginia, overseeing the Clarksburg and Elkins divisions. In that role, she not only served as a member of the management team, but also personally prosecuted high-profile cases involving violent crimes, narcotics, fraud, and firearms, and collaborated with multiple federal investigative agencies, gaining broad experience in the strategic evaluation of criminal cases and investigative priorities.
In addition to her federal service, Traci served as Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Harrison County, West Virginia, where she supervised multiple attorneys, mentored new prosecutors, trained law enforcement, and personally handled high-profile trials involving violent crime, fraud, and child and adult sexual assault. Earlier in her career, she represented indigent clients as an Assistant Public Defender, gaining valuable perspective on defense strategy and advocacy.
Traci also brings extensive private practice experience handling complex civil litigation across a wide range of practice areas, including human rights violations, employment disputes, personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, and administrative proceedings. In addition to her civil practice, she has continued to represent clients in criminal defense matters at both the state and federal levels. This combined experience in prosecution and defense provides her with a unique perspective on trial strategy, investigations, and case evaluation.
A Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, Traci has been recognized for her trial advocacy and leadership in the legal community. She has served on the Board of Governors for the West Virginia Association of Justice and remains deeply committed to advancing the interests of her clients in high-stakes litigation.
