Alex is Senior Counsel in the Firm’s Cleveland office. Formerly an Assistant United States Attorney in the Northern District of Ohio in the Civil Division for thirty-three years, Alex brings significant experience in complex, multi-agency civil enforcement matters.
As an AUSA, Alex handled a variety of sensitive and complex civil cases, including Program Enforcement matters for the USDA’s food stamp program (SNAP), FDA, and other federal agencies. He also regularly handled False Claims Act and qui tam investigations and prosecutions. Alex oversaw the USAO’s criminal and civil collections program, supervised the employees in those efforts, and the enforcement of victims’ rights under the Mandatory Victims Restitution Act of 1996.
Alex’s extensive background and commitment to excellence are reflected in his two-time receipt of the Department of Justice Director’s Award, which recognizes outstanding performance in the legal field.
