Kevin Mulcahy

Kevin is a former federal prosecutor who focuses on complex criminal defense, internal investigations, and regulatory and compliance matters. Kevin obtained extensive investigative, trial, and appellate experience while working for the Department of Justice for more than 20 years. Serving as an Assistant United States Attorney in both Detroit and San Diego, Kevin prosecuted virtually every type of federal crime, including terrorism, murder, export control violations, child exploitation enterprise, gun trafficking, drug trafficking, various complex fraud matters, and even a forest fire case resulting in death. Kevin conducted numerous federal trials and argued dozens of cases before both the Sixth Circuit and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeals.

Beyond being a talented courtroom lawyer and strategist, Kevin is a proven leader. He was Chief of the General Crimes Unit, the busiest unit in the Detroit U.S. Attorney’s Office, for more than five years before being selected to serve as Executive Assistant U.S. Attorney. As the Executive Assistant, Kevin ran the office’s training program, hiring committee, diversity committee, and community outreach programs. Kevin thereafter served as the Deputy Chief of the National Security Unit, where he was a member of the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force. He was also selected to provide advice and counsel to his fellow prosecutors on sensitive professional ethics issues as one of two Professional Responsibility Officers. Kevin also worked on the Sixth Circuit Pattern Jury Instructions Committee, helping author the federal criminal jury instructions used by every district court within the Sixth Circuit.

Before joining the federal government, Kevin worked at one of the nation’s largest law firms where he assisted employers in defending complex labor and employment matters.
