Youngstown, Ohio (December 15, 2025) – Under the leadership of Yasmine Makridis, Flannery | Georgalis is pleased to announce the Firm’s expansion into the Mahoning Valley, with the opening of a Youngstown Office.
Makridis, an accomplished trial lawyer with deep experience in complex criminal litigation and investigations, brings a wealth of knowledge to the F | G team. She most recently served as an award-winning Assistant United States Attorney in the Criminal Division for the Northern District of Ohio, where she investigated and prosecuted a full range of federal crimes, including large-scale, organized drug trafficking, white-collar matters, and violent crime. She also litigated numerous appeals before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
During her tenure as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, Yasmine oversaw and prosecuted hundreds of cases, including 15 criminal jury trials. In 2020, she was recognized as New Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Northern District of Ohio, an award given to top performing AUSAs who demonstrate elite advocacy skills and secure significant achievements.

Yasmine, who is fluent in Arabic, began her career as an Assistant City Attorney with the Columbus City Attorney’s Office. There, she handled a wide range of criminal and traffic offenses, representing the State of Ohio in over 70 jury and bench trials. She rose to serve in the Domestic Violence Unit before joining the United States Attorney’s Office.
Caryn Peterson also joins F | G as Counsel in the Youngstown office alongside Makridis.
Peterson began her legal career practicing civil litigation in a well-regarded Akron firm before serving in several federal clerkships at the district and circuit court levels. She first clerked for District Judge John R. Adams in the Northern District of Ohio, then for the District of Puerto Rico, and subsequently for the First Circuit Court of Appeals. Before joining F | G, she most recently clerked in the Northern District of Ohio for Magistrate Judge Carmen E. Henderson in Youngstown.
Caryn focuses her practice on complex criminal defense and civil litigation, with an emphasis on critical motions and appeals.
