Congratulations to the Mayfield High School Mock Trial team and their coach, Flannery | Georgalis attorney Ed Fadel, for an outstanding district round in the Ohio High School Mock Trial Competition. The competitors captured six out of eight possible individual awards: three best attorneys and three best witnesses. In addition to the individual successes, one of the teams advanced to the Regional Competition on February 15. This year’s case challenges the competitors to consider privacy rights in the ever-growing technological world we live. The issue involves drone footage of a defendant hacker in his backyard. The image is then enhanced and shows the defendant hacking into the state pension fund. The defense has filed a motion to suppress this footage. The competitors were tasked with presenting evidence and arguing for and against the suppression of this evidence. They started this process in September and should be commended for their hard work.
