Flannery Georgalis’ David Brown Secures Significant Sentence Reduction for Client

On April 29, 2020, the Asheville Citizen Times wrote an article covering Flannery | Georgalis’ David Brown’s successful efforts to secure a significant sentence reduction for an F|G client.

In November, the client self-reported to FCI Butner Low to serve his 37-month incarceration term after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit honest services fraud.

Following the rampant spread of the COVID-19 virus in the federal prison system, Brown requested the client’s transfer to home confinement. The number of positive cases reported in the Butner correctional facilities inmate population is among the highest in the country.

While efforts to secure the client’s transfer are still ongoing, Brown was successful in securing a 13-month reduction to the client’s sentence. The initial release date of June 30, 2022 is now July 28, 2021.

David Brown, a partner in F|G’s Charlotte, North Carolina office, has significant experience representing targets of state and federal white-collar criminal investigations. He can be contacted at (704) 949-2251 or dbrown@flannerygeorgalis.com.
