Columbus, Ohio (April 23, 2024) – Flannery | Georgalis is pleased to announce the addition of Michael Hunter as a Partner in the Firm’s growing Columbus office. Mike joins the Firm after 15 years with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of Ohio, where he served as Deputy Criminal Chief and an Assistant U.S. Attorney.

As an AUSA in Columbus, Ohio, Mike led the Office’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force and Project Safe Childhood initiative. He directed countless investigations of joint federal and state task forces involving numerous government agencies. Mike has tried dozens of cases to verdict, appeared in every courtroom in the District, and argued scores of appeals before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Prior to his work in the Southern District, Mike also served as an AUSA in the District of Columbia, the largest U.S. Attorney’s Office in the country, and was a federal law clerk for the Honorable John R. Fisher on the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. During law school, Mike gained invaluable defense experience working for a prominent boutique criminal defense firm in Cleveland.
Mike proudly served on active duty for eight years as a U.S. Air Force security policeman and criminal investigator, including serving in Operation Desert Storm. He received several awards for his military service, including two Air Force Commendation Medals, an Air Force Achievement Medal, and a Joint-Service Achievement Medal.
