Case Success | Michael Hunter

Columbus Partner Michael Hunter and co-counsel recently secured a non-incarceration sentence and a $1.5 million reduction in the proposed fine for a New Jersey businessman in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.

In a federal tax fraud case involving more than $2.5 million in alleged IRS loss, Mike and co-counsel secured a resolution of the case with a plea to a single count of tax conspiracy and a significantly reduced sentencing guideline range. Despite the Government seeking a significant period of incarceration, their advocacy persuaded the district court to impose a non-incarceration sentence and a significantly reduced fine, securing a period of house arrest allowing the client to continue to operate his company with work and travel privileges while completing the term of home confinement.

Results like this demonstrate the value of experienced counsel in sophisticated federal criminal litigation matters, where clients’ livelihood and liberty are at significant risk.  At Flannery Georgalis, LLC, our attorneys step in at pivotal moments to protect clients and their businesses when it matters most.
