The Federal Government released its Medicaid Fraud Control Units Fiscal Report for 2018. In 2018, Units operated in 49 States and the District of Columbia. Last year there were 1,503 convictions. 1,109 were fraud cases and 394 were patient abuse or neglect cases which combined for a total of $314 million collected in criminal recoveries. There were 810 civil settlements and judgments totaling $545 Million in civil recoveries.
