Tampa, Florida (October 1, 2026) – Under the leadership of Samuel Landes, Flannery | Georgalis is pleased to announce the opening of a Tampa office, marking the Firm’s second office in the state of Florida.

Landes, a former Assistant Federal Defender and U.S. Army judge advocate, brings significant experience in high-stakes litigation, federal criminal defense, and trial and appellate advocacy to Flannery | Georgalis.

Immediately prior to joining the Firm, Landes was an Assistant Federal Defender in the Middle District of Florida, one of the nation’s busiest federal criminal districts. There, he represented defendants in a broad range of federal criminal cases, including wire and bank fraud, healthcare fraud, corruption offenses, tax offenses, and other white-collar crimes. He tried 16 cases before a jury, further developing his extensive trial experience in federal court.

“We are excited to expand into the Tampa market and deepen our presence in Florida,” said Chris Georgalis, Co-Founder. “Sam is a highly accomplished trial lawyer whose federal and military experience strengthens our ability to handle complex, high-stakes matters for clients across the region.”

Before becoming an Assistant Federal Defender, Landes spent eight years on active duty in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps. In that capacity, he handled trial and appellate litigation on behalf of the Army involving court-martial convictions, including high-profile matters such as United States v. Chelsea Manning and United States v. Clint Lorance. He also acted as lead counsel in multiple oral arguments and held a leadership role within the Capital, Interlocutory, and Habeas section, overseeing a specialized team of appellate litigators.

Landes’ military legal career included service as a trial defense counsel in Wiesbaden, Germany, deployment to Afghanistan as primary prosecutor for a brigade combat team of the 101st Airborne Division, and work as a Special Assistant United States Attorney, where he prosecuted federal crimes arising from Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Landes continues to serve in the U.S. Army Reserve as a major and defense counsel and has been awarded the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal, and other awards.

“The opening of our Tampa office reflects our continued strategic growth and commitment to serving clients where they need us most,” said Paul Flannery, Co-Founder. “Sam’s proven leadership and depth of experience make him the ideal professional to lead this expansion.”
