As a licensed attorney in Colombia, my legal career began in Barranquilla, where I earned my Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) with honors from Universidad del Norte. As a member of the Legal Clinic and recipient of the Distinguished Student Merit Award, I developed a strong commitment to the profession, one that later led to a publication with the Inter-American Court of Human Rights and to clerkships at law firms in both Colombia and the United States.
Seeking to expand my practice across jurisdictions, I pursued an LL.M. at Penn State Law as a merit scholarship recipient, concentrating in corporate law and practice, tax law, and commercial law. There, I was an active member of the Corporate Law Society and deepened my foundation in securities regulation, federal income tax, and mergers and acquisitions.
Upon completing my LL.M., I joined Flannery | Georgalis through Optional Practical Training (OPT). As a Legal Analyst in the Cleveland office, I contribute to high-stakes criminal, civil, and regulatory matters through legal research, case analysis, and client and witness interviews, supporting our attorneys in complex litigation and investigations.
Being bilingual has also allowed me to take on a role I value deeply: serving as a bridge between the Firm and Spanish-speaking clients. Whether working with individuals, businesses, or foreign counsel from across Latin America, I help ensure that language is never a barrier to understanding, trust, or effective representation, connecting our clients to the Firm with the clarity and cultural understanding their matters deserve.
Today, I am pursuing admission to practice in the United States. I have passed the MPRE and sat for the bar exam, continuing a path that has required perseverance, careful navigation of admission requirements for foreign-educated attorneys, and a steady commitment to legal excellence across U.S. and international jurisdictions. I am grateful to Flannery | Georgalis for its support throughout this journey, and I hope my experience inspires other foreign-trained attorneys who seek to build careers in the United States.
